Felt making at Buxton Care home

Buxton residential care home: Autumn/ Christmas 2013

I had the pleasure of working with four ladies one of which was 101 years old. We looked at the colours of autumn and set about showing them the felting process.

Between us we made 5 beautiful felt leaves. Rolling the felt in between the bubble wrap and rolling pin the ladies had a real laugh; the hand dyed wool felt lovely and the colours delighted them, chatting about rolling pastry, making something from nothing. This satisfying, engaging and soothing activity provoked genuine interest and surprise from the care staff.

The ladies decided to call this piece Windy Weather

Running Wild a month long exhibition of original art by fellrunners of fellrunning at The Green Man Gallery in Buxton until the end of November 2013.

The preview event was supported by Boff Whalley lead guitarist of Chumbawumba a lovely bloke who added depth and musical richness to our fell running theme: fell runner, musician and author of Run Wild promoting the art of following your nose and running wild!

As the art event coordinator for this event I was thrilled to bits with our exhibition when it finally came together. Geoff did wonders getting all our creative minds to focus on the job in hand.
